Another Dumb Jock (Dumb Jock #2) by Jeff Erno

Another Dumb Jock
In Dumb Jock, Jeff and Brett fall in love, but their relationship is not without challenges. Brett’s a football star, and Jeff is the classic nerd. Their coming of age and coming out story is set in the 1980s, and they face many obstacles. Yet their love for each other is strong, and they finally get their happy ending.

Now, almost three decades later, their children are teenagers. Adam, their fifteen year old son, is the star pitcher of his high school baseball team. He has grown up with two dads, in a loving, non-judgmental environment. Yet Adam has challenges of his own. He’s failing two of his classes at school, and he’s been suspended for fighting. He resents being labeled and insists that just because he has two dads, it doesn’t mean that he is himself gay.

When he is forced to accept help from another student in his algebra class, Adam starts to have feelings that cause him to question his very identity. He’s got to decide whether to follow his heart or to maintain the image he’s worked so hard to portray. Will he have the courage to take a stand for what he knows is right, or will he end up being just another dumb jock?

                                                                  4.5 STARS

This story touched me in so many ways, I'm not even sure where to start. First the parents Jeff & Brett I LOVED! the way they don't make excuses to anybody for little hugs and kisses is awesome, I liked the way they approach parenting their kids and the love that they shower on them. Second Adam being a fifteen yr old and how he views things is so on the money that I found myself cracking up, when he's embarrassed by his father being more in a mother role kinda is hilarious, but still an issue he needs to work on. Having a teen myself I get the embarrassed by your parents bit.

Adam trying to deal with the issues of homophobe is alot for any kid add in normal teenage stuff UGH! You couldn't pay me enough money to be a teen again. He dealing with a bully, but then he has to deal with a school official whose homophobic as well, yes she really pissed me off that where kids get bullying from adults, sorry it really pisses me off. But anyway in walks his tutor Trevor and suddenly he finds he's attracted to another guy, on top of all the other issues now he may be gay?

Normally I would have thought it was too much by the way Mr. Erno writes it, it comes across as fun but serious, with a few surprises thrown in too.I really don't want to spoil anything but my favorite part is father walking in at an interesting moment Loved it. I recommend this book.
